The
Leys Estate has given the area to the East and North of Banchory
its own Countryside Park designation. The area will include the
Loch of Leys and may eventually be extended further to the North
and East to other areas of the Estate. The land bridges the gap
between the National Trust for Scotland property at Crathes and
the Forestry Commission land to the west and where public access
is already encouraged.
The
Leys Estate already provides a number of access routes and has others
planned as indicated. Within the Countryside Park area, there will
be additional links to the network whilst respecting existing land
uses such as farming and forestry. There is not shooting within the
Countryside Park other than for vermin control
